Description
The Rough Wear B-6, is made from an incredible broken grain, veg tanned, hand dyed sheepskin, with a fleece depth of 1/4 inch.
In the late 30s/early 40s the skins used for shearling flight jackets were veg-tanned and hand-dyed which produced a mottled, patchy appearance. They were a lighter shade than those produced later in the war having a distinct reddish hue (often referred to by the collecting fraternity as 'Redskins').
This material is now exclusively reproduced by us to emulate the original skins from WWII. The veg-tanning process is very time consuming and costly, but it produces a hide that looks and handles just like the original. We then hand-dye the skins, one by one just as they would have been all those years ago; the dye is swashed on with a sheepskin pad which produces the desired affect.
Our Rough Wear® Sheepskin jackets offer the customer a product of extreme speciality; original 'Redskin' jackets are much sought after within the flight jacket collecting fraternity because of their attractive vintage appeal.
Due to the amount of time required to produce the special sheepskin material, delivery times may be longer than other styles.
Available in sizes: 36 - 48.
