The original maker: The Rough Wear® Clothing Co was located in Middletown Pennsylvania and was one of the most prolific of the wartime contractors that produceed thousands of flight jackets throughout the 30s and 40s. The 27752 was the last of several contracts awarded to them for A-2s which were manufactured for a price of less than $10.00 each. How times have changed!
The reproduction: Made from our highly acclaimed War Horse® horsehide, we have now further developed this incredible material. Specially created with great difficulty to emulate the broken-grain character that is often found on originals, our Rough Wear® Clothing Co 27752 contract A-2 offers the ultimate in products of this genre.
It is a 100% veg-tanned material that is traditionally tanned and sourced from Italy. There is only one way to describe it: Outstanding! Those who appreciate and understand the endearing feel and appearance of an original vintage garment, will be positively 'blown-away' by the character and quality of this amazing hide.
Naturally, our 27752 emulates every detail of this contract's house style to the last stitch. The cut and stitch style has been faithfully reproduced to the finest detail, giving you a reproduction so accurate it could be mistaken for a dead-stock original.
The Eastman Rough Wear® 27752 is another front runner from our A-2 stable!
