Description

The Rough Wear® Clothing Co was located in Middletown Pennsylvania and was one of the most prolific of the wartime contractors that produced thousands of flight jackets throughout the 30s and 40s. The 27752 was the last of several contracts awarded to them for A-2s.

This particular model we offer here however is one with a slight difference to the usual factory production model. It is an authentic recreation of not only the Rough Wear 27752 contract, but also a wartime theatre installed winter lining modification. Having acquired an original for our archive which has had exactly this type of mod, we decided to offer the model with the very same enhancement. The A-2 is an intermediate weight garment so offers a certain degree of warmth, however with the light wool lining to the body it gives the garment an altogether cosier feel without making it bulky. The lining in the original jacket (and therefore replicated in our recreation), is that of the spec that was used in the US Army M-41 combat jacket - a superb quality fabric that we have had custom made to match the original exactly.

The hide we have chosen to use for this product is our very latest Vintage WarHorse® horsehide which is a stunning skin that has been specifically developed to exude incredible craggy vintage character that is often seen on originals.

The rest of the jacket is produced to our usual standard of accuracy with regards to emulating the original house style of this maker and contract, and has a subtle TimeWorn® process to give the garment that extra vintage appeal, rendering a product of the highest degree of authenticity and quality.
